Welcome!I am an ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) teacher in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. I love my job! I love studying language, learning about other cultures, and teaching. I also love helping ESOL children. Young children who are adjusting to a new culture and a new language need individual attention and time to develop their skills. My students are a joy to teach. I have been teaching in Anne Arundel County Public Schools since August 2002. Prior to coming to Maryland, I taught adult ESOL and ESOL teacher preparation courses for 19 years in higher education settings. I taught ESOL at a University of Southern California school in Madrid, Spain; at West Virginia University in Morgantown; and at Central College in Pella, Iowa. Whether one chooses to teach adults or children, I highly recommend teaching ESOL as a career. Helping newcomers adjust to the language and culture of their new home is not only a joy and a pleasure, but one of the most important things you'll ever do. |
